Rome - Appian Way

We had an interesting day taking a tour south of Rome along the Via Appia Antigua. Along the way we saw the Baths of Caracala and Circus Maximus. We never did actually go down into the catacombs (the whole day got off to a very slow start because Rome sort of ground to a halt in the morning due to a strike), but none of us cared very much. The highlight of the day was walking down the actual stones of the Appian way. On the way back to our hotel, we visited Palazzo Barberini, described in another post.
